Suzie Ralph has been appointed as Director of FILMBirmingham, the new film office run by Birmingham City Council.
Suzie has spent her career working within the TV industry starting out as a researcher at GMTV covering the programme’s political stories and as a lobby journalist in the House of Commons. Suzie has also worked in front of camera, reporting live daily from Downing Street and beyond – covering the death of the Queen Mother, Budgets, the petrol strike and the Iraq War.
In 2003 Suzie moved back to her home city and the BBC’s new home at The Mailbox as a film producer and presenter for the current affairs programme Inside Out.
FILMBirmingham is the new film office run by Birmingham City Council, in collaboration with Screen West Midlands. Their aim is to develop Birmingham’s existing film industry and attract new production to the city.
They’ll be promoting Birmingham as a great location to film in, providing a one-stop shop for film and television production and showcasing all the very best our film industry has to offer.
Forthcoming film events funded by Urban Fusion and supported by FILMBirmingham include Cineworld Cinema’s The Big Picture Weekend (3 – 6 November), swish’s Lost In Adaptation (2 – 4 December), 7 inch cinema’s Flatpack Film Festival (19 – 22 January) and Fierce’s Mirage Film Festival (22 – 25 February).
