As part of Gallery 37’s Summer Programme of events, 20 Young people from the gallery 37 project have teamed up with lead and emerging artists from The Rep Theatre.

The aim of the project is to develop a performance piece with the 20 apprentice artists focused around Roy Williams play, ‘Sing Yer Heart Out For The Lads’. Set in a pub on the night England played Germany in the world cup in 2000.
Using a variety of drama, physical theatre, dance and design techniques the project will seek to explore themes apparent within football such as identity and race and how racism can both manifest itself within the game and be challenged through it.
The project will result in the creation of a performance piece which will be shared with other apprentice artists and an invited audience of partners, sponsors and friends and family during the final week of Gallery 37. All young apprentices are working towards an Arts Award as part of this innovative project.
