This month, The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) launches a major national campaign looking at the way Shakespeare is taught, studied and assessed in our schools and colleges.
Teaching Shakespeare: Time For Change is the first major national campaign of its kind and kicks off on the 22 September with an opening Symposium to be held at The Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. Attended by teachers and some of the country’s leading academics and theatre practitioners, the Symposium is chaired by Libby Purves and led by a panel of thought-leaders from the worlds of education and theatre. A programme of follow-up training sessions, conferences and think-tanks will then help to shape the debate over the coming months.
