Luke Jerram’s Street Pianos (Fierce!, CBSO, Sound it Out and Birmingham Conservatoire)
As part of the Urban Fusion Programme, 30 pianos will mysteriously appear overnight in streets, parks and public spaces across Birmingham. Each pianos will have a small plaque attached stating Play Me I’m Yours.
This project will, in a whimsical and unexpected way, explore the notion of access and participation in music in a variety of settings and represents a Fierce! approach to community music – edgy, unpredictable with the possibility of moments of wonderment in unusual places and spaces. At some points pianists from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Conservatoire will appear, play a concerto, encourage others to play and leave.
