The Moulin Rouge is a an Art Deco mirror tent built in 1910. It will stand in Centenary Square and provide a focal point for the 2005 Birmingham International Jazz Festival.

Spiegeltents are hand-hewn pavilions used as travelling dancehalls and wine-tasting marquees since the early 20th century. There are only a handful of these unique and legendary “tents of mirrors” left in the world today. Built of wood, mirrors, canvas, leaded glass and detailed in velvet and brocade, each has its own personality and style.

Its distinctive style and elegant construction will provoke considerable curiosity. Its construction consists of perimeter booths with tables and bank seating, wooden floor space which will accommodate theatre-style seating, stage and box-office.
During the day, the Jazz Moulin Rouge will host constant activity in an elegant and unique atmosphere of Europe in a bygone age. People will stop to take coffee, eat lightly, perform music, listen and enjoy.

In the evenings, the beautiful mirror tent will provide the perfect back-drop to a series of very special performances.
