Imagine 30 of the biggest names in DJ culture from the past 30 years in one place at one time to talk about and strut their DJ stuff. Introducing DJs for Life 2005.

DJs for Life is the first event of its kind in the UK and is set to be the big date in the DJ calendar this year. With celebrities like the Scratch Perverts, GrandWizzard Theodore and The Original Jazzy Jay turning up, DJs for Life is already being talked about by industry insiders as the event to be at for anyone with an interest in DJing.

Taking place on the 9th and 10th December 2005, DJs for Life will consist of a two day conference at the renowned Drum Arts Centre in Birmingham and a major club event at Birmingham’s superclub – Air. Featuring 30 of the biggest UK and US DJs over three rooms, the event is set to be a night to remember.

DJs for Life is a project from Punch, the Birmingham based organisation at the forefront of the music industry. DJs for Life is typical of the cutting edge projects developed by the organisation.

The history of DJing and turntablism spans nearly 65 years but it is in recent years that DJs have established themselves as a prominent force in the music industry. Arbiters of taste, superstars of the club scene and global icons for a generation of young music fans, their influence is huge. DJs for Life will celebrate the significant, but often overlooked, contribution that DJs have made to the music industry in recent decades.

The last 30 years has born DJ prodigies such as Grand Wizard Theodore, the inventor of the scratch, The Original Jazzy Jay, the first to bring Hip Hop music to the airwaves and the Scratch Perverts, one of the world’s most progressive DJ collectives.

Needless to say, all of the above are attending the DJs for Life event and are ready to lead what will be a two day celebration of DJ culture, past and present.
