This Festival is 3 days of lively Irish community-organised events culminating in the world’s 3rd biggest St Patrick Day Parade after New York and Dublin and aims to support, develop and promote Irish/Celtic arts and culture all year round. This year there is a Post Parade Concert at St Martins in The Bull Ring. The festival will also be hosting a series of arts and cultural workshops for selected schools from 6th-17th March.
FESTIVAL PROGRAMME:
Friday 10th March:
7.30pm—Festival Launch Party. A programme of Irish music and dance performed for our Invited Guests.
Saturday 11th March:
12 noon—Reel Around the Fountain in Victoria Square with traditional Irish dancing and staged entertainment throughout the afternoon until 4pm.
1pm—Music inside the Bullring. An afternoon of Irish Music and dance inside the Bullring shopping centre (outside Selfridges Food Hall)
2pm—Music inside Selfridges. Music and dance from local performers performed at our stage on the second floor of Selfridges. A selection of Irish food will also be available in the Food Hall.
Sunday 12th March:
9.30 am—Celebratory Mass at St Anne’s Church, Alcester Street, Digbeth.
After mass the church will host an exhibition of the history of Irish in Birmingham.
12 noon—The annual Birmingham St Patrick’s Day Parade starts at Camp Hill taking around 2 hours to pass through the streets to the Bullring and back through Digbeth.
1.30pm—Music at St Martin’s in the Bullring. Come and enjoy yourself after the Parade with some local Irish talent and guest artists. See ‘Artists Biog’s’ and full stage listing for further details.
Friday 17th March:
4.30pm—The Civic Reception. Hosted by the Lord Mayor Councillor John Hood, at the Council House. For invited Guests.
