Short for Birmingham Art and Street Sounds, BASS covers around 30 events across the whole of June and in a variety of venues across the city. This is about truly representing the creativity of the Black music scene in Birmingham. One-off seminars exploring the role of Black British Music in the education system will support the professional development of young people by giving them a solid platform to explore new and provocative work.

The Seminar exploring the role of British Black Music within the Music Education Syllabus has been postponed until later in the year. New dates will be announced in due course.
MC Masterclass Ty & Professor Green
June 27th 6pm – 8pm at CBSO Centre , Gas Street.
DJ Masterclass Tigerstyle & Woody
June 30th 1pm – 3pm at Symphony Hall, Centenary Square.

The festival comprises a range of arts activity including events in genres as diverse as gospel, grime, hip-hop and disco, a new photography exhibition charting Birmingham’s hip-hop history, seminars and masterclasses, the Birmingham leg of the V&A’s Black British Style exhibition and a new commission showcasing the region’s finest grime MCs.
